Prague is a fascinating rich in history city to visit. Prague is most famous for medieval squares and castles, Baroque architecture, and bridges.
Prague is easy to explore on foot as most of the city's main attractions are within a walking distance of one another. If you don't feel like doing it all on foot, or would like to explore more of the surrounding areas, public transportation is a good way to go. It is affordable and reliable.

One of the things I enjoy most about living in Europe is the travel opportunities. There is no shortage of destinations to pick from, time-wise, if you only have a few days off you can enjoy weekends away relatively close to home. It would still feel as if you were on a short vacation.

Prague is one of those magical European cities perfect for a weekend away.

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, located along the Vltava River. A beautiful city filled with medieval charm, tons of history, ornate stone bridges, colorful Baroque buildings, and wonderful vibes. This city has a special place in my heart as it is where I bought my first apartment as a real estate investor! It’s where I took a leap of faith, visiting this city had a very personal impact on me.

Sightseeing Tips

Start at the Old Town Square, where else! This gorgeous vibrant square is the main focal point of the city. History will surround you as well as color. Here you'll find the Jan Hus Monument, and of course, the Astronomical Clock which is the oldest functioning astronomical clock in the world! Build back in 1402, it still tells the time on the hour every hour.
There are cafes and restaurants where you can take a load off, have a drink and bite, and enjoy the atmosphere and people around you. For spectacular panoramic views of the city go up to the Town's Hall Tower.

Visit the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn: Did you know the church's twin towers are called ‘Adam and Eve'?

Explore the Jewish Quarter: Dating back to the 10th century, the Jewish Quarter has no less than six synagogues showcasing different streams in Judaism, and the different heritages and ways of prayer. You can visit the Ceremonial Hall, walk around the Jewish Cemetery, and visit the Jewish Museum which in fact is a holocaust memorial for this community focusing on the impact on Jewish children.
Walk across the breathtaking pedestrian Charles Bridge: An iconic landmark completed in 1402, featuring 30 statues on it.

Take a cruise down the Vltava River: I never miss a chance to cruise down the river and check out my surroundings from a different angle.
Fact: This river is the longest in the Czech Republic!

Wander around the Malá Strana neighborhood: This area known as Lesser Town is a historic neighborhood on the hillside overlooking the river and the old town. Wander these narrow streets taking in the architecture, walk into art galleries, enjoy the cobblestone squares, bars, and restaurants.

The most famous spot to visit here is the John Lennon Wall. This colorful wall filled with drawings and messages dates back to the communist times of the Czech Republic. St. Nickolas Church was built in baroque style, making it another iconic landmark in Prague. And if it’s chillaxing you have on your mind, wander through the Wallenstein Gardens surrounding the Wallenstein Palace. Art, statues, fountains, and stunning greenery. Another fun attraction is the peacocks allowed to roam the gardens freely, beautiful creatures, aren't they?
Museum Tip!
The Franz Kafka Museum honors the author Franz Kafka; think first edition Kafka books, original letters, and his diaries.
Visit Prague Castle: This is a UNESCO monument with an impressive history going back almost 1,000 years, beautiful art, and unique architecture. It’s called a castle but it’s actually a huge complex dating back to the 9th century.
It is where kings and rulers set throughout time, for example, Roman emperors. It consists of several areas for you to explore; the St. Vitus Cathedral, palaces, and several buildings.
This castle is also the official office of the President of the Czech Republic! Watch the Changing the Guard taking place in the first courtyard daily.
Facts: This is the formal office of the president of the Czech Republic! Prague Castle is also the largest ancient castle in the world!
