Return to Mallorca: A Birthday Adventure Full of Hidden Gems!

Mallorca: Part 2: Celebrating My Birthday in Style!

Mallorca in October is a dream. The weather is still warm, but the crowds have thinned, allowing you to experience the island at its most serene and authentic. The autumn light adds a unique glow to the island’s beaches, and the slower pace lets you truly unwind.

Mallorca has stunning landscapes and a warm sea breeze, offering the perfect balance of tranquility and vibrancy. For my birthday this year, I returned to this Mediterranean gem, revisiting some favorite spots and uncovering new ones. Take a closer look at the highlights of my unforgettable second trip to Mallorca, and take notes for when you visit!

Don't miss Mallorca Part 1

A Chic Stay in Cala d’Or

Cala d’Or, Mallorca, Spain

Cala d’Or is where I based myself for this getaway, it offers a blend of luxury and laid-back charm. We stayed at the Rocador for adults only. Waking up each morning to turquoise waters and beach views was incredible! Don't miss out on visiting the marina. It is beautifully sophisticated, with gorgeous open views that set the tone.

Sleek yachts line the water and a calm atmosphere that lets you unwind from the very first moment. Dinner at Yuma and drinks and live music at Gadus Sky Rooftop elevated our experience. These spots are perfect for sunset cocktails, fine cuisine, and a taste of local elegance.

Stunning Beaches & Secluded Coves

One of the highlights of this trip was exploring some of the island’s most beautiful beaches, each offering its charm. We stopped at many beaches along our drive on the island, these are the highlights:

  1. Camp de Mar: Probably my favorite beach!

  2. Cala Llamp: Tucked away, this picturesque cove with clear waters was an ideal spot for swimming and getting sun-kissed.

  3. Cala Salmunia: A true hidden treasure, surrounded by rugged cliffs, with turquoise water that takes your breath away.

  4. Cala Petita: A small, tranquil beach perfect for those looking to escape the crowds.

  5. Calas de Mallorca: A series of stunning coves that beckon with their crystal-clear waters and secluded vibe.

Mallorca is renowned for its diverse culinary scene, ranging from local delicacies to contemporary dining experiences. These are the spots you shouldn’t miss:

Camp de Mar, Mallorca

  1. Restaurante Illeta: This restaurant is legendary! Situated on a small island in Camp de Mar, this charming spot serves up seafood with unmatched scenic beauty.

  2. Pura Vida: Nestled in Cala Llombards, this gem offers incredible sea views and a gorgeous pool. On the menu, you'll find unique tapas.

  3. Gran Folies: This may be the oldest beach club on the island, but it's current, keeping its high standard and incredible vibes. Unfortunately, they had already closed for the season so…

Our Ultimate Beach Club Experience!

No trip to Mallorca would be complete without a visit to a beach club, and Maria 5 Beach Club in Camp de Mar is the perfect place to unwind. Its chic design, excellent service, and refreshing cocktails made it the ideal spot to start my birthday celebration. The surroundings are spectacular! Whether lounging by the sea or enjoying an elegant lunch (or dinner), it encapsulates the luxury and relaxation that Mallorca is known for, and every item on the menu is a winner! The sushi was exceptional!

Exploring the Heart of Mallorca

Beyond the beaches, Mallorca’s cultural charm lies in its towns and villages. Here are a few gems I discovered:

Palma de Mallorca: The capital, with its majestic cathedral, charming old town, and vibrant dining scene. A perfect blend of history and modernity.

Exploring the Island by Car

One of the best ways to experience Mallorca is by renting a car. The island is full of hidden gems that are easily accessible by car, from remote beaches to charming villages tucked away in the hills. With a car, you can explore at your own pace, discovering scenic drives and spontaneous stops.

I recommend using ROIG. They had amazing service, new cars, and the best thing? They have their own gas station, so you can just fill in your tank upon returning the car and not worry about it while driving around, not to mention having to guess how much gas you should put in, always a gamble.

I recommend renting a compact car because the streets in the villages are extremely narrow and very tight. With a small car, it will be more convenient to drive and less stressful. A convertible is also a great way to go so you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes, especially during the drive to places like Cala Salmunia and Cala Llamp, where the roads are winding and picturesque.

Having a car gives you the flexibility to explore remote corners of the island, like the stunning Camp de Mar, or head up to the hills to admire the panoramic views.

Parking: The color of the pavement determines whether you need to pay for parking; Blue means ‘Pay and Display’, and gray is free. Green and orange are for residents only.

Beach views are the best views!

Mallorca has once again captured my heart, and this second visit reminded me why it’s one of the most enchanting places in the Mediterranean. If you’re planning a trip, I highly recommend exploring these spots to truly experience the best of what the island has to offer!
