Porto is a colorful and vibrant coastal city located in the north of Portugal offering visitors wonderful adventures to enjoy such as Port tastings, tuk-tuk rides exploring the city in a fun and environmentally friendly way, and cruises down the Douro river alongside lots of history, art and culture.

Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown - My Review
This is a 4-star hotel located in the center of the city. Porto is a walkable city and the location of the hotel is bang on ~ From here you can walk to almost all the attractions Porto has to offer.
Want to know the best part? The hotel is also home to one of the best restaurants and bars in Porto! Both can be found on the 17th floor offering stunning panoramic views of the whole city! You can enjoy drinks in the sunshine on the rooftop or have lunch or dinner in the elegant restaurant area while watching the sunset over Porto.
This hotel is a local landmark because of its distinctive silhouette. It is also still owned by the same family who built it back in 1973! The hotel has undergone substantial refurbishing recently.
We took a taxi to the hotel because we arrived late in the evening, you can also travel by metro, the Trindade Metro Station is 200 meters from the hotel.
Hotel Dom Henrique-Downtown is an elegant hotel with contemporary furnishing and art throughout, it is inviting, warm, and very clean. Reception is manned 24-hour a day so you know there's always someone there for you should you need anything. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! They will help you with anything you need to arrange during your stay, for example, a rental car, dinner reservations, and airport shuttles/taxis. They also had wonderful tips for us that made our stay even more enjoyable!
Getting Around Porto
On foot is the best way to explore Porto. Most of Porto's must-see sights and monuments are within walking distance from the hotel:
The iconic Clérigos Tower is about 10 minutes walk away.
Aliados Avenue is a 5-minute walk.
Sao Bento Train Station is a 10-minute walk.
The hotel is only 600m away from Rua Santa Catarina and Via Catarina shopping venues.
** Porto is built on a hill and the Dom Henrique- Downtown Hotel is located at the top of the hill. Honestly, it isn't hard to explore the city on foot as one might think, it’s fun and filled with gems for you to discover. If anything it helps you stay fit!
Trindade Metro Station is only 200m from the hotel and connects with Porto International Airport (the airport is 16 km away from the hotel) among other areas of the city. We did walk everywhere except to FC Porto stadium to which we took the metro, a 10-minute ride away.
Ride a Tuk-Tuk: You can arrange to be picked up at your hotel or look for them while you are out and about. It is a fun way to see Porto and beyond.
Rooms
The rooms are pretty, cozy, and very comfortable. You will have air-conditioning, TV, minibar, wardrobe, safe, work desk with chair, an electric kettle with a selection of courtesy teas, a balcony, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. You have free high-speed WiFi access in all areas including your room which in many hotels is not available for free.
You have different types of rooms to choose from; from comfort single rooms to comfort suites to comfort family rooms to a panoramic suite.
We stayed in a Twin Comfort room (superior room type) which was great! We had a big balcony to enjoy the views of Porto and a sitting area to relax in.
The bed is big and oh so comfy! Thought has gone into the smallest of details such as a light turning on when you open your wardrobe, music can be played in the bathroom, providing high-end shower gel and shampoo as well as facemasks!

We chose to have breakfast included in our room fee, it is served in the RESTAURANTE ALÉM MAR.
It is a nice breakfast, freshly made each morning with enough variety of options to indulge in; eggs, pastries, different kinds of bread, cheese, fruit and veg, meat options, juices, and coffee and tea. It was pleasant and tasty.

The menu is a combination of Mediterranean flavors and traditional Portuguese cuisine with a touch of gourmet, and you always have the terrace when the weather is good.

As they say at the Dom Hotel; life deserves to be celebrated with a toast! The 17º BAR is a place to relax and enjoy exotic cocktails or something off their wide selection of local wines and Port.
You can choose the elegant exterior deck or the indoor space styled in urban charm, offering a welcoming atmosphere.
