‘De Kop Van Oost’ has the perfect location; situated next door to the famous and only windmill in the city center, it’s right on the water and has a gorgeous terrace offering open-canal views.
Whether it be lunch, dinner, or cocktails facing the sunset, this place has it all!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated; chic elements combined with fun lively chair color combinations, and there's even a tree you can sit under and have your meal around. It is very spacious which is a rare commodity in Amsterdam. They even have a separate area on the top floor that can be used to celebrate private events.

The staff is very professional and friendly, and the menu is full of delicious & traditional treats given a modern spin. The menu evolves on a regular basis so you can always find a surprise on there with each visit. You can either choose the Chef's menu of three courses or order directly off the menu as we did.
We chose the salmon tartar served with dill and kohlrabi which complements the dish in a big way. The Burrata is served with tomato foam which I never had in combination before, definitely a winning combo, it was my favorite! The Lamb dish is served with a fresh twist with flavors coming through perfectly.

The dessert menu was full of goodies, I, of course, fell for the Creme Brulee. The ‘Kop Kolonel’ which is Merengue and lemon sorbet with a touch of vodka was beautiful!

In summary: Great views while on the water with service and food to match. I say GO!
