I love Greece! What makes Greece such a perfect vacation destination you ask? Aside from the beautiful climate and hospitable people is the fact that whichever island you end up visiting, is guaranteed to be a winner! This summer I visited Rhodes for the first time ~ Total Greek Bliss!

Where to stay on Rhodes?
I would recommend staying in Ixia, and this is why:
Ixia is not far from the airport.
The beaches in this region are gorgeous!
Location is central making it easy to go out on day trips from here.
Ixia is just a few minutes taxi ride from Rhodes Town. Here you can enjoy a night out on the town. Pay a visit to the famous Casino or choose one of many delicious restaurants and bars either in the new part or in the Old Town.
Getting around the island of Rhodes
The best way to truly experience and see the island is by renting a car. Driving in Rhodes is safe, easy and most of all it allows you the flexibility to see the sights on your own time. Prices range between 50 to 60 euros a day including insurance, depending on the size of the car you pick.
The road signage is decent, and the distances are doable as the island is not very big.

10 X Best Things to See And Do In Rhodes
Spend a day in the capital of the island Rhodes Town: I recommend starting in the Old Town. This part of town surrounded by a wall located on the shores of the Aegean Sea is huge! I have never seen an old town this size. Wandering the cobbled streets and exploring the ancient sites felt like it’s a town within a town. This ancient part is rich in history and architecture, featuring churches and palaces showcasing pretty boutiques and little restaurants on rooftops.

The Old Town is home to no less than 20 churches, 8 mosques, and 1 synagogue! Did you know the Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site? It is also one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the whole of Europe.

On the edge of town, you’ll find Elli Beach. This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island! Take a walk along the marina taking in the views of the water, the castle, and the windmills.
From the harbor of Rhodes Town, you can take a ferry, boat excursions, fishing trips, and private yacht tours to a variety of destinations. Syme Island and Turkey to name a couple.

Restaurant Tip! Have lunch or dinner at the Meatemi cafe restaurant located at the end of the port. The food is sensational! It goes together with sea breeze and a magnificent sea view.
Take a boat ride from Rhodes Town to either Symi or Chalki Island. Both are cozy, colorful, and picturesque! I loved the neoclassical houses on Symi. Another attraction here is the 18th-century Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis. Pilgrims flock here from all parts of Greece.
Kallithea Springs This is a stylish seaside spa famous for its springs. It offers a unique combination of nature, Art Deco architecture, and history. The water of these springs is known for its beneficial qualities.
Feraklos Castle: It is a short hike to the top of the ruins, and the views are worth it!

Which are the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes? If you are planning to hire a car then you can explore more than just one beach at a time. Keep in mind that not all beaches are sandy ones, some have stones.

Visit the iconic Anthony Quinn Bay: Anthony Quinn loved Greece. The actor fell in love with this bay during the filming of his movie "Guns of Navarone." He then decided to purchase it in the hope of turning it into an international center for artists and filmmakers. Unfortunately, 50 years on nothing have happened and it still haunts the family. Anthony Quinn has never returned to the island.

The reason I haven't included this gorgeous beach together with the rest is a practical one. The bay has the most amazing turquoise water I've seen on the island! It is surrounded by rocks and hills…It truly is breathtaking. It is also very small and narrow. Unless you arrive around 8 AM you have no chance of finding a good sunbathing spot, or even a parking spot. This spot is a must-visit! It truly is one of the gems of Rhodes.
Saint Pauls Bay deserves extra attention! This stunning bay located at the foot of the Acropolis of Lindos will blow your mind. On the beach, you'll find luxury beds, changing facilities, a small pier and you have restaurant service. The restaurant itself is an awesome option for sunset dinner and drinks facing the bay, and its glorious views!

Spend the day in Lindos: Lindos is a charming fishing village most famous for its clifftop Acropolis, definitely worth visiting! Lindos is a tiny town filled with great energy! Lindos is beautiful! Situated on the shores of the bay its whitewashed houses are surrounded by hills and ancient ruins such as the Acropolis from above. And let’s not forget those amazing 50 shades of blue!

The best way to walk into town would be either by simply walking down the hill or taking the free shuttle bus going to and from every fifteen minutes. Do not drive down with your car as you will not be allowed to park there.
Please! Do not use the donkeys offered to you at the foot of the hill! The way up isn't that long or hard so please, take your time if you need to but climb up without the donkeys. Do not support the abuse of these animals who are really suffering from being forced to carry tourists up and down all day. It was just so sad to see...
Wander around the narrow colorful streets and alleys, enjoy the views of the beach, the crystal blue waters, and the ancient vibes.
Food Tip! Have lunch at Stefany's rooftop! This is where food, views, and good vibes meet. At this restaurant, I have had thee BEST Dolmades in the whole of Greece ~True story! Dolmades is a typical and traditional Greek mezze dish consisting of vine leaves filled with a mixture of rice, onion, and spices.

Ancient Lalyssos: Located on the hill of Filerimos, you’ll find the Monastery of Filerimos. It was built by the Knights of Saint John in Medieval times.
